Hey @Wouter,
Just curious to know how the 3.0 beta is coming along. What can the community do to help?

Hi @imtiaz101325 @Von_Konstantin @PBerb !
We’re moving along with the L3.0 release, however it isn’t quite ready for public just yet. We ran into some snags with browser support (SharedBufferArray / Atomics mainly) and we’re reprioritizing some of our fallbacks accordingly that originally were scheduled post release.
We will share the beta with the public as soon as we can, no need for lists or signups. Once we do getting feedback from some early implementations would be fantastic. We’ll likely open up a seperate thread to capture feedback at the time.
Thanks for your patience!

Hello,
We are developing a TV app that always has video playing within the background (for live TV) so that the user experience can be richer (TV viewers also like to “listen to TV”) and smoother when moving from the live TV player and other full-screen components without a sudden break in sound (like searching content, browsing settings or the VideoClub catalogue). Nevertheless, this user experience choice (of maintaining the video playback across the entire app) results in a slower navigation for older or less performant TV sets (mainly LGs with webOS 4).
Do you have any plans for Lightning 3.0 to address performance of simultaneous video playback and rendering of User Interface components on top of it?
Regards,
Emanuel
Hi @Wouter
Please don’t hesitate to share any early previews, our team in EPAM has a solid collection of different devices (including legacy): SmartTVs, STBs, gaming consoles, paired with well-established quality assurance processes.
Do you have any beta release date in mind?
We’re going to start a new Smart TV app development in a few weeks and I wonder should we try to adopt Lightning 3.0 for this project. It will take us about 6-8 months to develop, so if you’re going to release beta this summer maybe it is worth the try for us.
I am also in similar situation.
we’ve been posting / discussing updates on Discord, come join our Discord for stuff like that. Its easier:
how do you use the component ui documentation link: @storybook/cli - Storybook
It does not seem to export/generate code like the version 2 components ui.
Hi all, I am currently working on an application for various smart TV models, developed using Lightning v2, and I am considering the possibility of migrating it to Lightning 3 with Blits. I am conducting an investigative study to understand if this migration is feasible and what benefits, if any, could arise from this update. Has anyone done a similar migration or has experience with the differences between Lightning 2 and Blits? I am particularly interested in knowing:
Thank you in advance for your help and insights!
